The first New England
Regional School Based Health Center conference, “Putting
Prevention into Practice: Successful Strategies for
Keeping Students Safe and Healthy”, will be held on
November 20, 2009 at the beautiful Water’s Edge Report
and Spa in Westbrook, Connecticut. Co-sponsored by the
Connecticut Association of School Based Health Centers
and the Massachusetts Coalition of School-Based Health
Centers, the one day conference will feature
presentations on proven strategies to keep students safe
and healthy.
The
conference will focus on unintentional injuries
prevention, with a specific goal of reducing the risk of
youth violence. Workshop topics will address disease
prevention and health promotion; mental health issues
that impact student health and school performance;
chronic disease management; oral health care prevention
and education; emergency preparedness for schools and
communities; advocacy for child and adolescent health;
and more. The conference will provide regional business
and networking opportunities and a wide range of
exhibitors.
